Thoughts on Justice (Alexsis)

First I must take a step back and say that I believe that God is the only Righteous One, the only One worthy to execute justice. Thus “God’s” justice is really the only justice that exists. Any idea of man’s justice must be identified as perverted and unrighteous. For what created man has the power to establish justice in the earth? There is not one.

Justice is the foundation of God’s throne. It is His foundational nature. Everything He does is a fulfillment of His justice; there is no part of Him that is separate from His justice and there is no part of Him that contradicts it. For a contradiction of His justice would be a contradiction of Himself and impossible thing for God – the Absolute Truth.

God’s will is justice. In the Garden of Eden the greatest injustice was introduced – separation of creation from Creator, bride from Bridegroom. God’s plight since then has been to reconcile His relationship with us, His creation. We are at the heart of God’s desire for justice. We are the very crux of the plan. His love for us, His passionate desire and His jealous heart fuel His cry for justice.

And He has asked us to partner with Him in this cry for justice. “This, then, is how you should pray: ‘Our Father in heaven hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven” (Matt. 6:9). In the end, the Kingdom of heaven will come to earth; God will establish His throne in Jerusalem amongst his chosen people. Israel will be exalted and the King of Glory will be revealed; He will rule and reign forever. This is His justice.

A keen understanding of the book of Revelation is essential for an understanding of justice. “The revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave him to show his servants what must soon take place…” (Revelation 1:1). The revelation of Jesus Christ will be the ultimate fulfillment of God’s justice and this book maps the series of events that will occur during that time.

In pursuit of a right understanding of the fulfillment of God’s justice we must be certain to keep our eyes on the God-Man Christ and His nature. Any false conceptions of who He is will infect and pollute our perception of His end-time justice. Revelation 1 emphasizes this very point, as God begins by reasserting who He is. “‘I am the Alpha and the Omega,’ says the Lord God, ‘who is, and who was, and who is to come, the Almighty.” (Revelation 1:8) Then John goes on to describe the man he sees. “‘I saw…someone “like a son of man,” dressed in a robe reaching down to his feet and with a golden sash around his chest. His head and hair were white like wool, as white as snow and his eyes were like blazing fire. His feet were like bronze refined in a furnace, and his voice was like the sound of rushing waters. In his right hand he held seven stars, and out of his mouth came a sharp double-edged sword. His face was like the sun shining in all its brilliance’” (Revelation 1:13-16). Finally, Jesus speaks of Himself, echoing the Father when He says, “I am the First and the Last. I am the Living One; I was dead, and behold I am alive for ever and ever! And I hold the keys of death and Hades” (Revelation 1:17).

At the heart of our pursuit should be the knowledge of Him. We must know Him intimately. Seeds of deception can not be found within us, so we must flood our hearts with the Truth of His Word washing away idolatry and falsehood. We must focus on His attributes: His holiness, His immutability, His omniscience, His omnipotence, His omnipresence…

From there we are able with a humble and steadfast heart to receive right revelation from God as Holy Spirit opens up the Scriptures and seals understanding in our hearts.
